A family winery above Prepotto
Vie d’Alt is based in Prepotto on the eastern edge of Friuli, close to the Slovenian border. The family works with both international grapes and native Friulian varieties, relying on hand harvesting and a clear expression of place.
Its vineyards grow on ponca, alternating layers of marl and sandstone. This well-drained soil gives the wines their characteristic savoury, mineral line.
02 · Place
Between the Alps and the Adriatic
Cool air from the Julian Alps meets the warmer influence of the Adriatic around Prepotto. Warm days ripen the fruit while cool nights preserve fragrance and acidity.
03 · In the cellar
Winemaking with purpose
The destemmed grapes receive a brief cold maceration, followed by gentle pressing and temperature-controlled fermentation in stainless steel. Fine-lees work adds texture without hiding the aromatic fruit.
