MONTEFALCO SAGRANTINO
Umbria · Sagrantino
A monumental Umbrian red with powerful tannins and outstanding ageing potential.
01 · Winery
Sagrantino from the hills of Montefalco
Perticaia lies among the green Umbrian hills near Montefalco. Its name means plough in an old local dialect, expressing the bond between people and the land.
The estate farms about 34 hectares and looks for elegance and fine tannin within the naturally powerful character of Sagrantino.
02 · Place
A grape that belongs to Montefalco
Warm days, elevation and calcareous clay soils give Sagrantino enormous concentration. Careful farming is essential to balance its famously high tannin with ripe fruit.
03 · In the cellar
Winemaking with purpose
Long maceration followed by patient oak and bottle ageing transforms a massive young structure into a more velvety one. The 2018 already shows mature tertiary notes while retaining further potential.
