Pira Luigi
BAROLO MARGHERIA DOCG 2021
Piedmont · Nebbiolo
Single-vineyard Barolo showing the elegant side of Serralunga d’Alba.
01 · Winery
The same family and hills for over a century
The Pira family has been tied to the vineyards of Serralunga d’Alba since the late nineteenth century. Luigi Pira and his wife Rosa turned the farm into a wine estate in the 1950s.
The family began bottling under its own name in the early 1990s. Several generations still look after the vineyards, cellar and visitors together.
02 · Place
The firm, mineral character of Serralunga
Calcareous clay soils give Nebbiolo structure and longevity and bring depth to Barbera as well. The family uses careful ageing to preserve the identity of each grape and vineyard.
03 · In the cellar
Winemaking with purpose
The wine ferments for about 18–20 days in temperature-controlled steel, then matures for 24 months in large Slavonian oak casks. The large vessel protects the vineyard’s floral identity.
Winery and production information is based on the producer’s official materials.
